We got Starter for 6 Funding! / by Joanne Potter

Notio Studio are very excited to announce that we were successful and received funding via Starter for 6. This will allow us to undertake further training which will increase productivity, income potential and improve our work efficiency.

After 5 months, 4 workshop sessions, it all came down to a 30 minute pitch in front of a panel in Edinburgh. The pitch went really well on the day, though we went in with quite a few butterflies in our stomachs. Once we started all the nerves disappeared and all the things we had learned during the process kicked in. It was a great chance to have an open honest discussion with the panel about our aims for the business, what we need versus what we've got already, and get feedback on our aspirations for the future. We left the pitch on a high and feeling confident that we had done the best we possibly could. This feeling was justified when a month later we got an email informing us that we'd receive funding for the majority of the things we'd asked for. As you can imagine we all celebrated a wee bit that night!

After a follow up meeting, the first of our after-care meetings, and signing the contracts we were invited to the Awards night in Glasgow. It was great to meet up with all the Starter for 6ers again and develop our network, which is what Starter for 6 is all about at its heart. It was at this event that we were able to publicly announce our success in achieving funding, hence the number of excited tweets from the night.

We've already written about what we were up to on the different workshops but I'd just like to mention again just how beneficial they were. All of us would recommend anyone with a new creative business, or even just the beginnings of a business idea, to look into the programme. We learnt so much and made so many useful contacts.
