This International Architectural TreeHouse Design Awards competition was organised by ArchTriumph and called for an idea or concept for a Contemporary Treehouse for a garden, woods, park land or island retreat for a Professional City Couple.
The goal is to provide a contemporary architectural solution to Treehouse design which is of a high quality, functional, feasible, repeatable, elegant and reflecting the uses specified in the Competition‘s program. The Treehouse must protect users from the elements such as rain, sun whilst providing a window to nature with it’s views.
The design is proposed as a geometric representation of a tree - being a dissection of the rhombic form. It is a stand alone structure within the woodland only drawing secondary support from neighbouring trees. Natural light enters through large bi-fold and tilt/turn triple glazed units.
An external terrace and large bedroom roof light allow for star gazing and visual connections with the forest. CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) structure that also acts as the internal finish. Cedar shingle exterior.
